The Challenge

The new housing development needed a foul pumping station that would service 334 homes. Energy efficiency and minimum maintenance was a key requirement in order to maintain costs.

The client also wanted to appoint just one contractor to manage the whole project from design to commissioning of the pump station. The client wanted a full turnkey solution that could collaborate the many aspects of the project such as the mechanical and electrical fit-out, installation and commissioning in order to cut down on the number of contractors on site.

Campion had the experience, expertise and were well equipped to deliver on the project.

A highly efficient pumping station was specified with 3 Flygt Concertor variable speed, self-regulating and self-cleaning pumps at the heart of the solution. Once the design and specifications were approved by Meath Co. Co. and Irish Water, Campion project managed the full mechanical and electrical fit-out onsite providing an end to end service for the whole project resulting in great fluency to the project which was completed within the requested timeframe.

Campion designed and manufactured a fully compliant form 4 control panel to control the pumping station. The control panel allows the pumping station to be run completely automated with minimal amount of human intervention required, saving thousands on labour over its lifetime.

The Outcome

Campion Connect provides a web-based monitoring system for the whole pumping operation. In the event a pump or a mixer goes down causing disruption to the sewage pumping requirements of the 334 homes, Campion Connect now detects this and sends an alert in time to implement a solution. This ultimately added value to this project for the client.

The pumping station design was highly efficient with all sealed stainless puddle flanges which resulted in no unnecessary pumping of unwanted surface water providing savings of thousands of Euros over its lifetime. The minimum lifespan of the solution is 50-70 years resulting in an excellent return on investment with minimum maintenance.
